Ukraine has made some progress in obtaining modern F-16 fighters from Western partners, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba. He specified that this issue was discussed during the visit of the foreign ministers from seven European countries to Odesa on April 28.
Kuleba notes that Kyiv considers the F-16 as an ideal fighter jet for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in terms of several military characteristics, but other models are also being considered. The US produces the F-16, so they have the right of final approval.
In turn, the spokesperson of the Air Force Command of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, said that several dozen pilots have completed training to fly the F-16. In the future, all Ukrainian military pilots will switch to the F-16, he clarified.
