Scholz plans to pressure Ukraine to sacrifice some of its territory to Russia.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is preparing a plan to end the war in Ukraine which does not exclude the transfer of a part of the currently occupied Ukrainian territories to Russia.

“The leader of the Social Democrats is already working on something similar to Minsk-3, including the hypothesis of transferring a part of Ukrainian territory to Moscow,” according to la Repubblica.

Scholz wants to go down in history as the “chancellor of peace” and to “play the Ukrainian card” in order to strengthen his position after his failures in regional and European elections. Earlier, Scholz said that the time has come to hasten a diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine and to start discussing a peace agreement with Russia.

The German opposition considers the plans from Germany’s ruling party, particularly Scholz’s statement about accelerating a settlement of the war in Ukraine, a dangerous change in the course of the war. It is noted there that these efforts fit into the strategy of a faction of the Social Democrats aimed at “inconspicuously pushing Ukraine towards a false peace dictated by Russia.” One of the components of the process is the gradual reduction of military support and the requirement to begin peace negotiations.
