Scholz is under pressure to provide Taurus missiles to Ukraine after the approval of US aid.

The head of the defense committee in the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, is calling on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles following the approval of billions in aid by the US Congress.

“The chancellor has always assured us that he is focused on the United States,” she pointed to the provision of long-range ATACMS missiles by the Americans to Ukraine in her appeal for Germany’s provision of the Taurus.

Strack-Zimmermann says this is a sufficient reason “to act now on the issue of Taurus.”

Before that, The Christian Democratic Union of Germany called on the head of the British government, Rishi Sunak, who visited Berlin on Wednesday, to pressure Scholz to supply cruise missiles to Ukraine.

CDU defense expert Roderich Kiesewetter emphasized that the materiel issue is critical for Ukraine in 2024.

A few days before, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, also implored Germany to hand over Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine’s military.
