Russia’s war against Ukraine could last for months or even years, so NATO countries must consider long-term plans to continue helping Ukraine strengthen its security, stated NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. “This war must end now. President Putin can end it immediately if he withdraws his troops and stops attacks on an independent sovereign Ukraine, and seeks a political solution at the negotiating table. But, at the same time, we must be realistic and understand that this may take a long time, months, or even years. That is why we must be ready for long-term action, supporting Ukraine and continuing sanctions and strengthening our defense,” Stoltenberg added.
