Russia launched 14 Iran-made kamikaze drones from the southeast in an overnight attack on Ukraine following a three-week break, according to Ukraine’s Air Force. Ukraine’s air-defense troops shot down at least 11 out of the 14 drones that were used. Russia began using Iran-made loitering drones in its war against Ukraine in the fall as its stock of missiles was being depleted, but then scaled down their usage. In the last months, drone attacks decreased significantly, most likely because Russia halted their use due to the cold weather, as some drone components are not resilient to freezing termperatures. Moreover, the Head of the Office of President, Andrii Yermak, has said that Russia is resorting to using Iranian drones because Russia is running out of high-precision missiles.
