The country will increase its transit capacity for Ukrainian grain from two to four million tons per month. This decision results from negotiations between representatives of Ukraine, the US, the EU, Moldova, and Romania.
“We agreed that Ukrainian grain exports should be accelerated in the context of the well-known attacks on the Ukrainian ports of Reni and Izmail that occurred in recent weeks. During these meetings, we emphasized the importance of Romanian land, rail, and sea transport routes to support the uninterrupted flow of exports and imports from Ukraine,” said the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, Sorin Grindeanu.
He added that from the point of view of Danube transport, the Sulina Canal is the only viable waterway for these transports, so it is crucial to optimize the carrying capacity of this route.
