Romanian President Nicusor Dan does not support deploying troops to Ukraine for a potential peacekeeping mission.
“I think it would not be very appropriate because of the tension that already exists between Romania and Russia,” Dan said.
However, he criticized US President Donald Trump’s approach to reaching an agreement with Putin. Dan noted that regarding a peace settlement, everything should be resolved and agreed upon by the Ukrainians themselves.
“I am not very optimistic that we will have peace soon. And I am also glad that the Europeans have decided together to continue supporting Ukraine.”
As president, Dan plans to maintain a partnership with the US while also supporting Europe’s efforts to enhance the continent’s security.
Also, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk remarked that his country is not going to send a military contingent to Ukraine following a future peace agreement between Kyiv and Moscow. He emphasized that his country’s goal is to protect the border with Russia and Belarus, as well as serve as a center for the transfer of weapons to Ukraine.
