The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held the first telephone conversation of the new year with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The leaders discussed the expected results of the next Ukraine-EU summit, which will be held on February 3 in Kyiv, and agreed to intensify preparatory work, the Office of the President reported. In addition, they discussed ways to further strengthen the power of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by supplying appropriate weapons. A separate topic of conversation was the implementation of a new program of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €18B. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of receiving the first €3B tranche of this assistance in January.
