Poland is establishing one of the largest logistics hubs in the EU to transport goods for Ukraine's reconstruction.

The country plans to modernize the Sławków logistics hub in the southwest to significantly increase its capacity for handling goods destined for Ukraine. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted: “In Sławków in Silesia, we will have the largest logistics center of this type in Europe. It is not only about breaking records; it will also be a golden deal for Poland.

He emphasized that he sees nothing wrong with Poland’s desire to earn substantial funds from Ukraine’s reconstruction. In his opinion, the country aims to help, but at the same time wants to benefit from it, which is why a special logistics hub is necessary.

The Sławków terminal is located at the junction of the broad gauge (1520 mm) and European gauge (1435 mm) railway lines, allowing transshipment of containers transported by rail between Asia and Western Europe, particularly through Ukraine. After its expansion, the throughput capacity will be over 500,000 twenty-foot containers per year; currently, this figure is up to 285,000 containers.
