In Denmark, on November 1, the gas receiving terminal of the Baltic Pipe pipeline was launched in the city of Nybru, the Energinet reported. This means that Poland could import gas from Norway in transit through Denmark. The Baltic Pipe gas pipeline is unique in that its source is not a deposit, but another main gas pipeline, Europipe II, through which gas goes from Norway to Germany.  The Baltic Pipe began operating on October 1, but gas for Poland – about six million cubic meters per day – comes from Denmark’s fields in the North Sea and the European gas network. For now, it will run at half capacity. However, the Danish terminal is expected to reach full capacity later this year.
