Poland’s Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Siekierski said: “We are negotiating a bilateral agreement with Ukraine to establish certain rules that will determine the size of quotas for certain products that may affect the Polish market so as not to disturb the stabilization of certain markets.”
He hopes that the size of the quotas will be determined by the end of March. At the same time, a representative of the Polish Ministry said that the government will continue to support Ukraine in the transit of agricultural products through the territory of Poland and is developing a mechanism for their licensing.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed the critical situation at the border with his Polish colleague Donald Tusk, and emphasized the unacceptability of the situation with scattered Ukrainian grain exports, and offered to find a mutually beneficial solution. He also emphasized that Ukraine and Poland should join forces to prevent the entry of Russian products into the EU market.
“We must be united against common challenges and enemies that threaten the security of Europe,” he said.
