One roadbuilding season made a difference. Ukraine in 2020 climbed 20 notches in “Quality of Roads” Ukravtodor says, citing The Legatum Prosperity Index. Out of 167 countries, Ukraine rose to 126^th place this year, from 146^th place last year. This year, the state highway agency has overseen the repairing or rebuilding of 3,900 km of national roads. Under the Zelenskiy administration’s ‘Big Construction’ program this figure is to increase next year to 6,800 km. At its height last summer, road projects employed 21,256 people, Ukravtodor says.
