Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said that his country will contribute financially to the initiative that provides Ukraine with additional air defense systems. He clarified that for this contribution, Norway will review the budget of its Nansen program, which provides military and civilian support to Ukraine in the amount of NOK75B ($6.8B) over five years.
“It is expensive but preserving peace and freedom costs money”, he emphasized.
Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson admitted that Stockholm could hand over the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. However, he states that the country is currently focused on financial contributions to the air defense initiative for Ukraine. At the same time, Sweden will send other air defense systems that can “remove some of the pressure” from Ukraine.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Germany, Siemtje Möller, gave their assurance that the new Patriot system will be delivered to Ukraine as soon as possible.
