A total of 47 countries participated in the Ukraine Contact Group’s second meeting, said the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, General Mark Milley. Overall, 20 countries announced new security assistance packages, including donating critically needed artillery ammunition, coastal defense systems, as well as tanks and other armored vehicles, announced US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Denmark has agreed to provide Ukraine with a Harpoon launcher and missiles to help Ukraine defend its coast. The Czech Republic decided to send attack helicopters, tanks, and rocket systems. Other nations came forward with new commitments to train Ukraine’s forces and sustain its military systems. Secretary Austin will host the third meeting of the contact group in person in Brussels on June 15, Austin said after the second virtual meeting of the contact group Monday.
