NATO will expand its defense cooperation with Ukraine and share intelligence.

NATO plans to expand cooperation with Ukraine in defense technologies and share additional intelligence data to combat Russia in cyber security. The agreement is planned to be finalized before the Alliance summit in July 2024 in Washington.

According to senior NATO officials, one of the goals of the program is to help Ukraine become a major supplier of technology after the end of the war. Also, NATO wants to adopt the experience Ukraine has amassed since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in quickly implementing military technologies.

NATO officials note that the Russian strategy depends mainly on the purchase of drones from Iran and components from China, which the Russian Federation resorts to circumvent sanctions. However, Russia has also developed new technologies that can avoid acoustic sensors that determine the location of drones. It is also essential to work on how to counter Russia’s constant GPS jamming, which renders some Ukrainian drones and foreign precision weapons ineffective.
