The Alliance plans to send a high-ranking civilian official to Ukraine to coordinate military logistics. In Wiesbaden, Germany, a new command center will be created to control the delivery of military equipment and weapons and coordinate training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. About 700 US and military personnel from other NATO countries will participate in the NATO operation to provide security assistance and training for Ukraine.
In this way, the Alliance will now take responsibility for helping Ukraine, so assistance will continue even if the US reduces or stops its support after a Trump presidential election victory.
In turn, Trump may refuse to accept Ukraine into NATO in order to broker a ceasefire agreement with Putin, according to which NATO will undertake not to expand to the east, meaning that Georgia and Ukraine would not be accepted into the Alliance. As part of such an agreement, the parties would also negotiate on how much of Ukraine’s occupied territory Moscow would be able to keep.
