NATO and the EU signed their third declaration on cooperation,

NATO and the EU signed declaration on cooperation

 which provides for further strengthening of the relationship because of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, which threatens European security. The document was signed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. Stoltenberg noted that the regime in Moscow will face long-term consequences for their actions against common security. Therefore, further strengthening the vital transatlantic ties in NATO, strengthening the partnership with the EU, and increasing support for Ukraine is necessary. Charles Michel stated that Russia’s war against Ukraine has led to two unintended consequences – it strengthened both organizations. The EU and NATO are both increasing military capacities and have grown even closer. Putin wanted less NATO but achieved the opposite – more NATO and EU.
