Naftogaz decides not to build a CHP biofuel plant in Lviv.

State company Naftogaz of Ukraine refused to implement the construction of the first biofuel CHP plant in Lviv worth UAH 1B ($27.5M) that had been initiated by the ex-head of the company, Yuriy Vitrenko, said the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovy.

“Unfortunately, we did not find support from Naftogaz in implementing this project, so this process is currently suspended. We are directing all our energy, in particular, to the construction of a waste processing plant,” Sadovy said. He added that no money was allocated from the city budget for the construction of the CHP project.

“Unfortunately, Naftogaz’s new management did not support the initiative due to their different opinion about such projects in Ukraine,” the head of Lviv’s administration explained.
