According to EBA research, this summer’s power outages affected the operations of 87% of companies in Ukraine. Among the companies surveyed, 67% had to suspend work, 60% had increased production costs, and 48% had changed their work schedule.
The situation in the energy industry led to a reduction in production or service provision in 36% of surveyed enterprises, 11% experienced disruption of contracts, and 3% a complete stoppage of work. At the same time, a minority of companies currently use electricity imported from the EU, and 60% do not import electricity and have no such plans.
Since 2022, 85% of businesses have invested in building their energy independence, and 30% have invested more than $200,000 doing so. Currently, 66% of companies have their own energy generation or alternative energy sources. Autonomous sources cover up to half of the needs of 66% of companies and more than half for 34% of businesses. 24% of companies have solar generation, 19% – energy storage, 17% – new networks and infrastructure, 11% – distributed gas generation, and 2% – biogas or biomethane plants.
