The commander of NATO forces in Europe, American General Christopher Cavoli, said that Russia has suffered significant losses in Ukraine but still has “dangerous fighting forces” that are almost unscathed by the war. The general mentioned long-range aviation, strategic missile forces, defense units, and submarines. Most of Russia’s tactical aviation has not yet been involved in the war.
“Despite the significant losses on the ground, the rest of Russia’s military structure has a huge potential – both conventional and nuclear – it is necessary to keep this in mind,” Cavoli added.
According to the WP, Russia can finance its war against Ukraine for several more years with its huge oil revenue because Western sanctions have failed, particularly oil price restrictions.
At the same time, the finance ministers of the G7 countries have promised to step up their efforts to prevent Russia’s attempts to evade sanctions related to the price ceiling. They also promised additional measures to “increase Russia’s spending on the shadow fleet’s use.”
