Moldova aspires to become a central logistics hub between the East and West, and invests €30M in infrastructure.

This year, Moldova plans to complete a project feasibility study for the construction of the country’s first multimodal logistics complex at the Beresti train station in Ungeny (5 km from the border with Romania). According to estimates, this facility will serve up to 200,000 trucks annually, and cargo handling will amount to about four million tons. The Beresti terminal will become a regional logistics hub integrating Moldova into the global transport and logistics network. Currently, the main carriers from the East and the West choose routes bypassing Moldova due to the lack of logistics infrastructure. The Beresti railway station is located 106 km from Chisinau on the railway corridor that goes through the city of Balts and stretches further to the border with Ukraine. The strategic location of the station is also linked to numerous industrial facilities and transport routes. The complex will accommodate the use of both broad gauge (1520 mm) and European gauge (1435 mm) railway wagons. The project cost is estimated at €30M, and the facility’s construction will last 24-30 months.
