More than a hundred MEPs have called on EU member states to impose a full trade embargo on Russia and Belarus, including a ban on energy trade. This was stated in the address of MEPs to the governing bodies of the EU and the President of France, who currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, before the summit of EU leaders in Brussels. The MEPs say they welcome all the unprecedented measures against Russia that the EU has taken swiftly in recent weeks. However, they consider them insufficient and call on the European Union to immediately and urgently strengthen the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation.
