The announced entry into the Ukrainian market of the Lidl supermarket chain has been postponed due to the war in Ukraine. Lidl Ukraine Regional Manager Adam Mishchyshyn instead will manage the Slovak branch of the network. Mishchyshyn will replace Matusz Gal in this position and be the third Lidl CEO in that country. Gala himself, who has headed the Slovak Lidl branch since June 2016, will take over the management of the retailer’s branches in Belgium and Luxembourg beginning in May. Today, the Lidl network operates in 31 European and the United States markets. The company operates about 11,500 stores.
