During a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba called on Ukraine’s partners to intensify the protection and restoration of the country’s energy infrastructure, which has been damaged by the Russian Federation’s strikes. He emphasized that Ukraine is actively taking steps to improve the energy system’s situation and named the priority steps for urgent assistance to the Ukrainian energy system.
“The first is the strengthening of air defense capabilities. The second is the quick repair and restoration of generation and distribution facilities. The third is the decentralization of the energy system, particularly the installation of cogeneration plants. The fourth is increasing the import capacity from the EU from 1.7 to 2.2 GW. The fifth is attracting funds and equipment from partners,” said Kuleba.
He noted that Russia drops from 3,200 to 3,500 guided aerial bombs on civilians, military, and critical infrastructure of Ukraine every month, so it is necessary to allow Ukrainian strikes on legitimate military targets in Russian territory.
