Kherson airport, Ukraine’s second busiest Black Sea airport after Odesa,

will close on Sept. 20 for a three-month repair of its runway, reports Avianews. The $20 million resurfacing and expansion of the 2,500 meter asphalt/concrete runway is designed to allow the airport to receive Boeing 767-300 long haul jets. Betting on tourism, the runway rebuild is designed to triple Kherson air traffic, to 500,000 by 2024.
