NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who arrived in Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of the war, visited the town of Bucha on the outskirts of the capital.
“NATO will continue to provide unprecedented support to the army and people of Ukraine,” he said there.
In turn, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Stoltenberg to help supply long-range weapons, aviation, artillery, and armored vehicles. In particular, Zelenskyy seeks assistance in overcoming Ukraine’s allies’ restraint in providing these weapons.
In addition, according to Zelenskyy, Ukraine expects constructive decisions and steps, including the adoption of a package of guarantees, from the NATO summit in Vilnius this summer.
“There is no objective barrier that would prevent the adoption of political decisions to invite Ukraine into the Alliance.” Stoltenberg emphasized that it is no longer possible to imagine the security of the Euro-Atlantic space without Ukraine.
The NATO leader assured the president that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance.
