Defense Minister Rustem Umerov emphasized that the conversation was constructive and meaningful. President Zelenskyy’s primary objective is to achieve lasting and sustainable peace in Ukraine.
“We are working to make this a reality,” the minister stated.
Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office Serhiy Leshchenko clarified that the negotiations with the US in Saudi Arabia included discussions on shipping safety and preventing attacks on Ukrainian ports. The topics of prisoner exchanges and the return of Ukrainian children were also addressed. Leshchenko pointed out that the negotiations are part of a technical process, meaning such meetings will become more regular.
In turn, President Zelenskyy stressed: “No matter what we are discussing with our partners now, we need to pressure Putin into issuing a real order to stop the strikes; whoever brought this war must take it away”.
He reminded everyone that ceasefire discussions between Russia and Ukraine have been ongoing since March 11. However, since that time, the aggressor has continued to massively shell Ukrainian territory.
