An expert from the Center for Economic Strategy said: “The first two months of 2024 were not very fruitful for Ukraine in terms of international aid. As of February 23, we had received only $436M in funding from Japan.”

At the same time, he noted that Ukraine has already agreed on another review of the IMF program at the expert level, which will allow us to receive $890M. By the end of March, Ukraine also expects to receive an additional $1.8B from Japan and the first tranche from the EU for €4.5B ($4.9B).

The analyst also noted that Ukraine should receive a $1.4B loan from the World Bank. Together, Ukraine could receive $9B as early as March, allowing the country to return to more stable financing of its expenditures. The Ukrainian government expects to receive about $37B in aid this year and thinks budgeting with this amount is quite realistic.

“But there is still a risk that the actual aid will be less,” the expert noted.
