In Kyiv, the street retail facilities vacancy rate decreased to 5%

. In the capital of Ukraine, the vacancy rate of street retail facilities decreased to 5%, reports the Ukrainian Trade Guild (UTG). The number of free spaces in shops in the city center has decreased from 11% to 5%. On the contrary, this indicator in shopping malls increased from 10% to 20%, and sometimes as high as 28%. According to the trade guild, this is because the ownership of free-standing stores has become contractual. Tenants have taken advantage of the situation to locate their shops on central streets with long-term contracts and low rents. In addition, the popularity of street retail format stores has increased significantly among visitors. Due to war and the threat of shelling and missile strikes, people want to be able to evacuate quickly and get to shelter. This causes a negative occupancy impact on malls, due to which retailers seek to relocate to the city’s streets.
