During a meeting with Polish business representatives, Ukraine’s Minister of Agricultural Policy, Vitaliy Koval, said that trade turnover between the two nations in 2024 reached $11.7B, with Poland’s exports to Ukraine totaling nearly $7B. Consequently, Ukrainian exports to Poland amount to only $4.6B. Koval stressed the need to change this export situation and noted that businesses could act as a driving force for increasing mutual trade.
“Ukraine, in total, imports 1.5 million tons of diesel and gasoline. In terms of agricultural products, last year, Ukraine imported $354M worth of production means and mineral fertilizers from Poland. These imports constitute a significant portion of Ukrainian agricultural products. For instance, to grow a ton of Ukrainian corn, we need to import 75% of the necessary ingredients. This means that the success of Ukrainian farmers relies on the profitability of international companies, including those from Poland,” the minister stressed.
Therefore, as Ukraine’s agricultural sector develops, there will be more benefits for the Polish side, and vice versa, according to Koval.
