The German concern Rheinmetall plans to open a new plant to produce artillery ammunition in Ukraine. The memorandum on the creation of a joint venture was signed on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. The new plant will make at least 100,000 artillery shells of 155 mm caliber per year, as well as projectile charges. The German arms company will own 51% of the joint venture shares, and the Ukrainian contingent will own 49%.
In turn, Ukrainian state defense concern Ukroboronprom signed a memorandum with one of the leaders of the global arms community – Dynamit Nobel Defence.
“Our partnership is essential for strengthening defense”, said CEO of Ukroboronprom Herman Smetanin.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, in Munich, called on international partners to create a program for joint weapon production to that will increase investment for this purpose.
