High-ranking US and NATO military officials arrived in Ukraine on the eve of the Ramstein meeting.

On November 20, Lloyd Austin, the US Minister of Defense, and the commander of the NATO Joint Forces in Europe, US Army General Christopher Cavoli, arrived in Kyiv to meet with President Zelenskyy. The parties discussed the provision of necessities for the Ukraine Armed Forces during winter. Austin reassured attendees that the US will continue providing security assistance to Ukraine. The parties also discussed the long-term vision for the future of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

Austin noted that this meeting was another opportunity “to confirm the unwavering support of the United States for Ukraine. We, together with our partners, will continue to support Ukraine’s urgent needs on the battlefield and long-term defense needs,” he emphasized.

Before the visit, Austin and the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, discussed the development of events on the battlefield and plans for the next meeting in the Ramstein format by phone.
