Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Great Britain Liz Truss discussed boosting the supply of weapons for Ukraine’s defense and strengthening sanctions against Russian oil and gas. In the context of diversification of energy supply sources and preparation for the heating season, the parties emphasized the need to increase their gas production, particularly in Ukraine. Shmyhal thanked the UK for its willingness to provide a tranche of $500M through the World Bank to purchase gas. “We are also interested in involving British business in developing gas production in Ukraine. We expect the UK to make the necessary decisions to insure British business in Ukraine against military risks,” the Ukrainian Prime Minister added.
