The plant belongs to the Vetropack group of companies and produces glass containers. The Swiss producer reported that on May 25, the first glass-making furnace was heated, brought up to operating temperature, and loaded. The first batch of products will be produced in June.
During the first week of the war, the plant was seriously damaged, and one of the three furnaces was destroyed. Due to those losses, the company had to cut about two-thirds of approximately 600 jobs at the enterprise.
So far, Vetropack has hired 139 new employees to resume production. During its recovery, the company took into account all possible emergency scenarios. The electricity distribution system was rebuilt, and additional generators were installed. The company predicts that the demand for glass containers for food and beverages will grow by approximately 7% in 2023.
