Minister of Finance Christian Lindner shared the German government’s plans during his visit to Kyiv. However, the government’s decision must be approved by the Bundestag.
Note that the parties have signed a memorandum of cooperation that will expand the possibilities of Ukrainian budget assistance in the future. According to the memo, the Germans will provide advisory support to Ukraine in customs policy, financial market monitoring, state investment management, and state enterprise privatization.
It is worth adding that Germany provided almost UAH 500M to finance Ukrainian entrepreneurs. In particular, the program’s first stage, Access to Financing and Support of the Sustainability of MSMEs in Ukraine, has been completed. Financing was provided by the German government. 136 Ukrainian entrepreneurs took part in the program. They received loans for investment purposes or replenishment of working capital. After successfully obtaining loans, each participant received a grant to compensate for expenses. The total amount of grants issued is more than UAH 59M.
