Germany has decided against creating a repair center for Ukrainian Leopard tanks in Poland.

The Leopard 2 tank.

The Ministry of Defense of Germany reported that the Leopard 2 tanks damaged in Ukraine will now be repaired in Germany and perhaps in Lithuania. This applies to the Leopard 2 tanks that have been supplied by Germany. It is unknown where Leopard tanks provided by other partners will be repaired, and negotiations are ongoing.

Previously, Handelsblatt had reported that the reason for the decision was Poland’s inflated price expectations. Spiegel has previously reported that the Polish defense company PGZ would receive €100,000 for an initial tank diagnosis, while in Germany, they usually charge about €12,000 for this service.
