French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced the pending delivery but did not specify how many tanks his country plans to provide to Ukraine for security reasons. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius expects the first Leopard 2s to be delivered to Ukraine in late March or early April. He added that by the end of January, the Ukrainian military will begin training on the Marder BMP and, soon after, on the Leopard 2 tanks. In turn, UK Deputy Defense Secretary Alex Chalk said that his government expects the Challenger 2 tanks to enter the battlefield by the end of March. And on January 30, British instructors plan to begin training Ukrainian military personnel on Challenger 2 tanks. The training programs will provide Ukrainians with the necessary skills to use and repair the tanks.
