For the first time in Ukraine, a village destroyed in the war will be rebuilt from scratch.

the village of Posad-Pokrovske near Kherson

The restoration agency presented the restoration concept for the village of Posad-Pokrovske near Kherson. “This is the first step on the way to the implementation of our ambitious project to restore six settlements in five regions that suffered due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation,” said the head of the Reconstruction Agency, Mustafa Nayem.

Reconstruction will occur according to the principle of building back better and involves a systematic approach, new planning, and a complete village transformation.

It should be noted that Posad-Pokrovske is a village on the border of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, 35 kilometers from Kherson. In February-March 2022, after the occupation of Kherson by the Russians, it found itself on the front line. Out of 940 houses in the village, 450 were totally destroyed, and the rest were heavily damaged. Before the full-scale invasion, 2,240 people lived in the village, but the population shrank to only 20 during the war. Now people are gradually returning.
