Food shortages threaten consumers of Ukrainian agricultural products due to the war and the blockade of Ukraine seaports. The blocking of Ukrainian seaports by Russian troops endangers the food security of countries importing Ukrainian agricultural products, according to the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (USAB). “And the problem with food is now bigger in the countries where we supply grains, rather than in Ukraine,” the association said. In the last decade, Ukraine became the world’s fifth-largest exporter of wheat, the fourth-largest producer of corn, the third-largest exporter of barley, and the largest sunflower oil exporter. In addition to grain products, Ukraine also has a significant share of the world market for walnuts, honey, and other agricultural products.
