Ukraine’s official unemployment level has more than halved over the past year. Only 61,600 citizens receive government assistance, according to data from the National Bank. In February 2023, the number of registered unemployed fell to 150,000, including 106,700 women.
A year ago, 313,800 unemployed Ukrainians were officially registered. The number of unemployed people receiving unemployment benefits decreased from 275,800 to 61,600. Employers’ need for workers to fill vacant positions decreased from 53,200 to 28,900. The workload per vacant position fell from six to five.
The National Bank estimates the number of unemployed at 2.9 million in the fourth quarter according to the International Labor Organization’s methodology.
