Experts criticize Trump's disappointing "peace plan" for Ukraine.

According to former US Army Commander in Europe Ben Hodges, US President Donald Trump’s Ukrainian peace plan involves Kyiv’s “capitulation” to Moscow.

“This is not a peace plan. This is simply capitulation. This is pressure from the US on Ukraine to surrender to Russia. The mask was dropped when we saw this failure in the Oval Office two weeks ago,” he noted.

According to Hodges, the Trump administration now expects Ukraine to relinquish a portion of its territory. The general wonders why Trump believes that this will be beneficial to US strategic interests. According to Hodges, there are no signs that the Kremlin will stop the war until it achieves its goal – to leave Ukraine a fragmented state.

Semafor wrote that the Trump administration is considering the possibility of officially recognizing Russian ownership of Crimea as part of a potential agreement to end the war.

As well, Putin has named a condition for a temporary truce: He does not want Ukraine to receive weapons from its allies during the ceasefire.
