ENTSO-E will increase the capacity of interstate crossings between Ukraine and EU countries in November to ensure the balancing of the energy system in case of hostile attacks, explained the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson.
Meanwhile, EU energy ministers agreed on reforming the common electricity market, reports Spiegel. The main goal is to make the price of electricity more independent from the price of gas, which has grown significantly due to Russian aggression against Ukraine.
German Economy Minister Robert Habeck welcomed the agreement, which improves access for consumers and industry to low electricity prices across Europe. According to the German Ministry of Economy, the electricity market’s new structure will allow consumers to benefit from the low production costs associated with alternative energy sources. The goal is to ensure price stability even during a crisis by better balancing fluctuations in the electricity market.
