The President of Serbia, Aleksandr Vucic, believes it will be almost impossible for Ukraine to defeat Russia in a military capacity. Therefore, he thinks Ukraine’s optimal path is through gaining momentum through the prospect of EU membership this June. Vucic is confident that Ukraine will be able to achieve membership through an accelerated procedure.
At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Urmas Reinsalu, says that the issue of Ukraine’s accession to the EU is not a matter of months, but years. And the decision on whether to start accession negotiations this year is political. There is indecision in this sense among EU countries, not because of Ukraine’s situation but due to the issue of EU enlargement.
According to him, no one in the EU would dare to say they are against Ukraine, and there is an endless list of technocratic nuances and arguments.
