Latvian President Edgars Rinkevičs said at the summit in Davos that his country should work on the combat capability of its army and prepare for a hybrid war.
“The defense industry should strengthen its potential for two reasons, to help Ukraine and to have more equipment and machinery for ourselves. Latvia will increase its defense spending – up to 3% of GDP by 2027,” Rinkevičs said.
He added that it is also necessary to be ready for various provocations from the Russian Federation and hybrid war.
“Putin wants to restore the Russian Empire of the end of the 19th century. We must act in advance,” said the Latvian leader.
During the Ukrainian breakfast in Davos, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, said Russia will not stop with Ukraine if it claims victory; Putin will then choose his next victim in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, or Central Asia.
