Epicenter sales of construction materials decreased, but food and clothes sales increased.

Epicenter’s sales dynamics in its chain of stores during the first month of the war decreased by 30% compared to last year, however, several product categories showed growth. According to the company, the segment most affected by the war was the sale of goods for construction, repair, and furnishing housing. However, building materials began to recover in May, and the sales rate decline decreased to 15-20%. On the other hand, the sales volume of food products in March-April increased by 250% compared to last year. The greatest demand was for products with a long shelf life: canned goods, flour, oil, sugar, dried fruits, chocolate bars, and alcohol. Also, positive dynamics were seen in sales of sports clothes, shoes, and children’s goods. According to the company, the Epicenter network’s total turnover in April 2022 increased by 18% compared to March but fell by almost 25% compared to the same period last year.
