During peak hours, Ukrainian households consume about 16,000 MW. Therefore, less than 10% of consumption can be covered by imports, said Andrii Gerus, the head of the parliamentary committee on energy issues. According to Gerus, the import of electricity is one of the stabilization factors in periods of its shortage and can shorten the periods of power supply restrictions, but it cannot completely solve the problem of blackouts. This is explained by the fact that the capacity of the power grid and the possibility for imports are simply insufficient from the standpoint of physics and technology.
