As WP writes, Egypt has long-standing diplomatic and military relations with Russia, but for decades it has been the main ally of the US in the Middle East and receives more than $1B in military aid annually from its ally.
The leaked Pentagon documents do not include whether Cairo later resumed its plan to export missiles to Moscow or supplied the US with ammunition for Ukraine.
However, several documents indicate that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi renounced his intention to provide ammunition to Russia in March. This happened after a visit to Cairo by an official delegation of high-ranking officials from the White House and the State Department.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also visited Cairo at the beginning of March. After these negotiations, Al-Sisi approved the production of 152-mm and 155-mm artillery ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The White House did not indicate that Egypt supplied Russia with lethal weapons.
