On June 17, Russia carried out a barbaric airstrike, targeting civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa, and eight other areas. Damage occurred to apartment buildings, dormitories, and kindergartens, with a residential building in Kyiv partially destroyed, and left 1,148 homes without electricity. Transport infrastructure in Kyiv, including rail facilities and grain wagons, suffered damage. Twelve people were killed, including a US citizen, and around 150 were injured.
The attack affected clothing producer Fahrenheit and manufacturer Danaya, along with the Zaporizhzhia Non-Ferrous Metals Plant and The Lace brand’s office and warehouse. The Harchi Food enterprise was destroyed. That night, the enemy deployed 440 drones and 32 missiles.
Following the attack President Zelenskyy stated: “Such attacks are terrorism, and the whole world, particularly the US and Europe, must respond as a civilized society responds to terrorists.”
CNN noted that the largest drone attacks against Ukraine, involving 300-400 drones per night, have occurred in the last four weeks. Ukrainian air defenses intercept about 80% of drones, but at least 154 civilians, including children, have died from drones, missiles, and artillery over this period, with another 900 injured.
