The Secretary General of NATO promised to help Ukraine with the supply of additional air defense systems to close Ukrainian skies from Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, said President Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with Jens Stoltenberg in Kyiv.
In his turn, Stoltenberg announced framework contracts for €2.4B to produce ammunition – both for Ukraine and for replenishing the stocks of member countries. “Of these, €1B are already concluded contracts to produce 155 mm caliber artillery ammunition, anti-tank weapons, and ammunition for main battle tanks,” Stoltenberg clarified.
As the US ambassador to NATO, Julian Smith, previously reported, the allies will strengthen ties with the private sector to speed up production of defense products. NATO has begun work on an action plan for defense production, focusing on the production of ammunition for Ukrainians and some of the Alliance members who are assisting Ukraine.
