Due to shelling at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, the 5th power unit was shut down.

Zaporizhzhia NPP

On the morning of September 1, as a result of more mortar fire by Russian troops at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the emergency protection tripped, and the 5th power unit, which had been operating, was shut down, Energoatom reported. In addition, the occupiers damaged the 330 kV ZAES power supply line for their own needs. In the transitional mode, power unit No. 2 was de-energized (it was not working) with the start-up of diesel generators. Energoatom emphasized that in the last 10 days, this is the second time that Russia’s criminal actions have led to the unit’s shutdown and the station’s de-energization. Yesterday, the General Director of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, with his team, visited the Zaporizhzhia NPP. After inspecting the plant, most of the delegation members left the station. However, five representatives of the IAEA mission stayed at the ZNPP, unloaded the equipment they brought and will continue working at the plant.
